Yes, it is that time of year again! We now have this year’s flu vaccines in stock and available to anyone who want it. Make an appointment with our nurses to get yours as soon as possible so that you have the maximum amount of protection over the flu season.
Do I need a flu vaccine?
Influenza is not the same thing as a cold virus – even one of the nastier ones. It is a much more severe illness that frequently causes respiratory complications such as pneumonia. It is particularly dangerous to babies, pregnant women, the elderly and anyone with reduced immunity (diabetics, for instance). Even if you do not fall into these categories, we recommend the vaccine if you frequently associate with people who fall into the at risk category. This will reduce the chances of you carrying the virus to them. This is particularly important for babies who cannot be immunised themselves until they are over 6 months old.
